TRADESHOWS – ITB China 2019
ITB China is a three-day B2B travel exhibition exclusively focused on the Chinese travel market. The event brings together more than 800 top buyers from Greater China with industry professionals from all over the world. A dedicated EUROPE Pavilion will showcase a multitude of European tourism products and destinations.
The 2019 edition of ITB China will take place from 15-17 May in Shanghai.
China European Marketplace (CEM), coinciding with ITB China and dedicated to Chinese tour operators and travel buyers looking to contract European tourism service providers, will take place on 14 May.
CHINA OTA CO-OP CAMPAIGNS
The China OTA cooperative campaign aims to increase destination awareness and lead to increased bookings to European destinations.

WELCOME CHINESE CERTIFICATION
The Welcome Chinese Certification is a worldwide exclusive standard, officially defined, recognised and implemented by the China Tourism Academy (CTA), China’s main governmental research and promotion institute, part of the Chinese Ministry of Tourism and Culture. The final aim of the certification is to guarantee dedicated services to the Chinese tourists travelling abroad.

ECTY MEDIA HOSTING PROGRAMME

ECTY CHRISTMAS MARKET
The ECTY Christmas Market brought to Chengdu – the heart of Sichuan province and home to China’s famous Giant Pandas – all the joy and warmth of European Christmas and winter traditions. Destinations and businesses had the opportunity to showcase their offer at the ECTY Christmas Market.

PARTNERSHIPS IN EUROPEAN TOURISM – Chengdu
Among Chinese visitors, many parts of Europe are associated with the word ‘romantic’. The Chinese wish to travel is suggested to be a wish for a common experience of togetherness and family happiness. Travel destinations with romantic connotations in Europe will be the preferred places to visit.
The event took place from 29 November to 1 December 2018.
EU-CHINA VIRTUAL TRAVEL FAIR ON CULTURAL TOURISM
EU-China Virtual Travel Fair is a customized virtual reality environment dedicated to finding business partners online. It promotes meeting the right travel industry partner across China or across Europe. Destinations, products and services can be showcased in 3D to attract business partners. The fair took place on 27-28 November 2018.
PARTNERSHIPS IN EUROPEAN TOURISM – Shanghai
The influence of film and TV is especially pronounced in the Chinese market. Analysis of online activity among Chinese visitors demonstrates that film and TV shows drive travel decisions.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS
Thematic transnational promotional campaigns
The European Travel Commission (ETC) is seeking to co-invest into the most creative thematic transnational promotional campaigns conceived, developed and executed by a consortium of partners to raise China’s awareness of Europe as a travel destination. Selected promotional campaigns will receive co-funding from the European Travel Commission, with the financial support of the European Union.

ITB China took place from 16-18 May 2018 in Shanghai. Its opening event coincided with the announcement of the Official Partners of the 2018 EU-China Tourism Year.
TRADESHOWS – COTTM 2018
Having entered its 14th year, COTTM is regarded as the industry’s most important platform and remains the only business to business event in Beijing that focuses purely on the burgeoning Chinese outbound travel market.

EU-China Light Bridge
The EU pillar of the Light Bridge was built on Friday 2 March 2018 and Saturday 3 March 2018 when landmarks around the EU shone in red, the main colour of the Chinese flag.
