On the 2nd and 3rd of March 2018 the Moorish Castle in Sintra, Portugal, celebrated the 2018 EU-China Tourism Year by participating in a bridge of light between Europe and China.

The Moorish Castle is one of the most representative landmarks of the Cultural Landscape of Sintra, and a site that bears witness to the most ancient history of human occupation in the. This fortification dates back to the times of Islamic presence in the region, and was constructed between the eighth and ninth centuries and later expanded after the Reconquista. Overlooking the town of Sintra, it served as a watchtower, guaranteeing the protection of Lisbon and its surroundings. From the top of the walls, it is possible to admire a unique landscape that reveals the town de Sintra in the foreground, the hills of Sintra covered in green and dotted with beautiful homesteads, romantic chalets and interesting palaces and the Atlantic coast line.
