EU – China Tourism Year on TV

Exciting discussions have been under way between the CCTV and the European Travel Commission (ETC) regarding massive coverage of ECTY events.

CCTV is the most powerful state television broadcaster in China, with a network of 50 channels broadcasting programming in several languages, accessible to over one billion viewers.

CCTV Vice President Sunyusheng and Oversea Distribution Director Zhaowenjiang

met with Eric Philippart, Special counsellor responsible for the 2018 EU-China Tourism Year from the European Commission, Eduardo Santander, Executive Director/CEO of ETC. and Jacopo Sertoli, President of Select Holding (WelcomeChinese) to begin a dialog about collaborating to promote Chinese and European destinations bilaterally, as laid out in the framework of ECTY.

Chinese outbound travellers may be highly interested in a trip to Europe, but such a holiday normally represents a huge expenditure. ECTY aims to foster partnership among suppliers to provide more advantageous packages; the next crucial step is to educate and communicate, so that the waiting market is aware and inspired by the offer.

CCTV has already provided coverage of the issues and of travel trade events. More support as ECTY 2018 unfolds will be a great advantage to achieving the goals of increased tourism and understanding between the EU and China.
