Published: 30 April 2018

About the programme

The ECTY Media Hosting Programme is a programme conceived by the European Travel Commission (ETC), with the support of the European Commission, to give travel-oriented digital influencers in the Chinese market the opportunity to immerse themselves in ‘Destination Europe’ in order to create and share compelling and engaging stories about pan-European travel experiences.

Terms of participation

Please familiarise yourself with the following terms of participation before proceeding to submit your application. Kindly note that selected participants will be required to sign a participation agreement before travelling to Europe. The European Travel Commission reserves the right to amend or suspend some or all parts of these terms at any time without notice.

Who can apply?

The ECTY Media Hosting Programme is open to digital influencers in China. This includes:

  • Key Opinion Leaders
  • Bloggers and videobloggers
  • Other influencers with a strong digital footprint
  • Consumer and trade journalists
  • Freelancers

Influencers must be over eighteen (18) years of age and have a good command of the English language.

Eligible media types:
  • Digital
  • Broadcast (TV)
Targeted readership and/or viewership:

To be considered for support, the readership or viewership of the digital influencer must align with ETC’s target consumer audience, i.e. cultural explorers and authentic experiencers, aged 25-44 and residents in a first or second-tier city in China.

How is the itinerary organised?

The European Travel Commission will send the participant on a tailored pan-European trip of a maximum duration of 15 days. The trip must take place between 1 May 2018 and 31 March 2019.

Participants are expected to pitch in a themed-based story and present an initial itinerary according to their specific needs and objectives. The ETC together with the hosting destinations and their partners will then work with each participant individually to tailor his/her final itinerary and deliver the best possible itinerary that meets the expectations of both sides. The ETC and the hosting destinations will also assist the participant in all necessary preparations before and during his/her travel in Europe.

What does the ECTY Media Hosting Programme include?

The programme will fully cover the following travel expenses:

  • Return flight ticket in economy class from major cities in China (domestic flights within China are not covered by this programme)
  • Accommodation and meals

Is coverage from the hosted media expected?

Participants in the programme are expected to create inspiring content and stories as a result of their travel experience in Europe and do everything possible to ensure publication or broadcast within their assigned media channels. Having a firm assignment or commissioned story when applying to participate in the programme will therefore be considered a plus.

Participants must keep the European Travel Commission informed about upcoming publications, broadcasts or any other activities related to the hosted trip and share any relevant content with the European Travel Commission within 60 days after the completion of their visit.
