A Light Event in Kells Heritage Centre on 2nd March will coincide with the celebration of the Lantern Festival in China. The exterior of the Centre will be illuminated and attendees will be invited to participate in traditional Chinese activities.

Meath County Council will hold a Light Event in the Kells Heritage Centre, inviting local and national communities and tourists on Friday 2 March 2018 to coincide with the celebration of the Lantern Festival in China. As part of the event we will illuminate the exterior of the Kells Heritage Centre in red lighting and encourage attendees to participate in traditional Chinese activities. This will be an enriching cultural moment and will build our connection as a tourist destination in China.

This event will mark one of the first events to be held in the Kells Heritage Centre, following a major revamp of the Kells Heritage Centre in 2017. This revamp was a collaboration between Fáilte Ireland and Meath County Council. The funding has provided for a new visitor exhibition. The Illuminating Kells event will kick start the re-opening of the Kells Heritage Centre via an enriching cultural moment and will build our connection as a tourist destination in China.
